Please note: Registration for Summer Program 2020 opens on January 8, 2020
June 17- August 23, 2019
There is always something new and exciting happening at the Lesley Ellis Summer Program with fun activities planned for every age group. We’re already looking forward to it. A new session starts each week throughout the summer with adventures for incoming preschoolers through 8th grade, including overnight camping trips for our oldest students.
- Young Adventurers: Entering Preschool (2.9) and Prekindergarten
- Junior Discoverers: Entering Transitional Kindergarten, Kindergarten, and Grade 1
- Senior Explorers: Entering Grades 2–4
- Trailblazers: Entering Grades 5–8
The Lesley Ellis summer program is designed around popular weekly themes. Each session is led by experienced early childhood, elementary and middle school educators from Lesley Ellis School, along with like-minded college students and other educational professionals. Throughout the summer children are immersed in hands-on explorations and experiences, which may include field trips or special guests to mix up the summer fun with different perspectives and context.

Summer Program Highlights
Students in grades 5-8 will find adventure of all kinds during the six weekly sessions throughout June and August. Each session is designed around field trips to a wide variety of destinations, aimed at providing fun and enrichment. Whether looking to satisfy an historic and/or cultural curiosity, improve a lifetime skill, explore the outdoors on an overnight camping trip, or just have fun with friends, we’ve got you covered.
Always popular swimming lessons are offered for children enrolled in our Junior Discoverers and Senior Explorers programs. On Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, children have swimming lessons at the Arlington Boys and Girls Club.
Our Junior C.I.T. program is a two-week program for students entering grades 7, 8, and 9. This program supports those who are transitioning from a camper to being a leader and role model in our program. The program includes gaining experience working as a junior counselor in our summer program in the morning and spending afternoons developing leadership techniques, as well as communication, group management, decision making and conflict management skills. At the end of each two-week session there will be a field trip especially designed for our Jr. C.I.T.’s. All program participants who complete the two-week training will receive volunteer hours and a certificate of completion.
Jr. C.I.T.’s must complete a questionnaire to help determine their eligibility. We encourage parents to discuss the difference between being a camper and a Jr. C.I.T. with their student in order to determine if this program is a good fit for them. Participants will receive feedback from senior staff at the end of their session.
