A Program of Schools for Children

Junior CIT Program

Our Jr. C.I.T. program is a two-week program for students entering grades 7, 8, and 9.  This program supports those who are transitioning from a camper to being a leader and role model in our program. The program includes gaining experience working as a Jr. counselor in our summer program in the morning and spending afternoons developing leadership techniques, as well as communication, group management, decision making and conflict management skills.

At the end of each two-week session there will be a field trip especially designed for our Jr. C.I.T.’s. All program participants who complete the two-week training will receive volunteer hours and a certificate of completion. Participants will also get feedback from senior staff at the end of their session.

We encourage parents to discuss the difference between being a camper and a Jr. C.I.T. with their child in order to determine if this program is appropriate.
